Rigor Product Suggestions

  1. Creating a way to test your failure/notification of tests without having to change your test.

I want to be able to know that the "notifications" system and setup for my test is working, we have the correct people being notified and the contact info is all correct. I would like to do this without having to change my test.

Is there a way to test the failure notification system quickly? For now I am:

    1. modifying who gets notified if I add a new person.
    2. Modifying the test to force it to fail like look for a button called test
    3. Waiting for the test to run twice which takes like 10 minutes or…

  2. I would like to have a rerun option for failed step in RBC check

While developing test case in RBC and when any test step fails during run due to logic fail or improper element passed, we should have an option to run from failed step. This option save our time and helps us to verify the fix quickly

  3. reporting

It would be nice to get an aggregated downtime time report in minutes/seconds in addition to the percentage that is available now.

  5. Add Ability to Retrieve Set Custom Variables in Real Browser Check

    Hi,

We used a primary transaction key for all our Web Transactions. I can grab this variable (or set in a Rigor Custom variable) from java script extracting a Cookie value. I would like to be able to retrieve / display Rigor Custom variables on a Real Browser run. Suggestion, add tab on the DOM page details with "Rigor Custom variables values" and display the set values from the Real Browser run

  6. Option to Delete multiple steps in RBC Test case

If I want to copy my RBC test case and create a new test case with customized steps, after creating the copy, I should have the option of selecting unwanted steps and deleting those steps. At present I need to delete one by one.

  7. Third party star graph showing introduced delay time not just the number of links

The third party star graph just shows the number of links in the page but not the amount of time each one adds to the page load time.

  8. Allow selection of multiple errors to be opened in new tabs simultaneously instead of clicking one at a time

Given that I am looking at a time window with multiple errors in it, I would like a way to multi-select, maybe by using ctrl/cmd, and then have a button "open selected errors in new tabs"

  9. Add Optimization Defect Checks for WCAG needed by highly-regulated industries.

Digital content teams are responsible for optimizing their sites in many ways beyond speed. Since most of the WCAG falls on the front end and resources that Rigor already checks on, it would be valuable for teams in high-regulated industries to have access to the same level of "if this; then that" style fixes for their web content.

  11. Trigger alert by error rate

Besides trigger alert by 2,3 consecutive failures, I think it will be nice to have something like triggering alert when the error rate is higher than 5% in the past 3 hours or so. The reason is that sometimes there ARE some issues, but those issues may not appear consecutively.

  12. alert sends request and response of the call that triggered the failed assertion

We are trying to automate our error reporting. In order to do this we need to start grouping failures by the call involved and the failure response provided. We hope to use hubot to sort through the errors and only forward new, unknown ones to our slack channel. So what we need is to have the alerts include the request and response that triggered the failed assertion so that we can sort through these efficiently.

  13. Conditional alerting

The notification conditions could be broadened to include notify after x failures within y time units.

It would also be useful to have an option at the end of the test to send an alert or not based on the content of the json response. Some of our alerts are time sensitive, some can be dealt with later.

  14. Adding a checkbox "Do not start next test until current test completes"

Our backend is stateful and things get messed up if a test starts before the next test is finished. This is not ordinarily a problem but can cause issues when there are aws outages.

  15. API: Support updating HTTP check settings via the Monitoring API

We have a need to bulk update some HTTP check parameters. I thought this might be a good opportunity to dig into the Monitoring API and maybe write an Ansible module for managing HTTP checks. I ran into problems when I found that, while I could create and delete HTTP checks, the API provided no method of updating existing checks.

This makes sense. fundamentally we need to provide a comprehensive way to update a checks settings via the API. A v1.0 of this could be to just allow updating check settings, but not say RBC steps (since bulk updating selenium steps could be challenging). Reaching out to reporters with some clarifying questions.

  16. Set Custom color legend thresholds on Dashboards

In trying to set up an Executive Dashboard, the default thresholds for how the coloring (Green, Yellow, Red) is applied to the dashboard are looser than the thresholds our executives would like to see.

Example: The executive dashboards default to showing any avg uptime of 98-100% as green, 90-97% as yellow, and <90% as red. But because our sites need to be highly available, we'd rather have those thresholds be 99.9-100% green, 99.5-99.9% yellow, and <99.5% red. Similarly we'd like to be able to set thresholds for Response times.

  18. When a node is unavailable do not send failure response

When a node goes down for maintenance or other reasons the response it sends when trying to make either a uptime or real browser check should not be a failure. Currently this will trigger false positives where the node is down yet the service or page it is monitoring is actually indeed working.

  19. Integration with Bamboo for Rigor Optimization

Rigor Optimization currently integrates with Jenkins CI allowing you to include performance testing as a part of your development workflow.

    Plugin: https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Rigor+Optimization+Plugin

Many companies use Bamboo (Atlassian) for continuous delivery and it would be great to see Rigor build a native integration.

  20. Add international locations for Optimization

We would like to have different location to run the Optimization checks.

We would like to monitor performance for a site in Germany. The site is hosted at an AWS site in Germany and most of the audience would be in country.
