    Hey Ryan, thanks for the suggestion.
    We have are currently planning to switch the Benchmark check over to using our RBC platform under the covers to perform the tests. This makes many more metrics available to Benchmark check, include DomContentLoad, Fully Loaded, as well as future things we add to RBC, such as SpeedIndex.

    We email you to better understand what you mean by 3PC Javascript “calls” (the requests to 3rd party urls? The number of function calls 3PC JS makes, etc)

  2. Rigor API: Add url to /v2/checks API endpoint

    In the old (deprecated) api if you got a list of all checks like this

    https://my.rigor.com/checks/uptime.json

    It would detail the url that was being checked in the returned data as a url: entry

    In the v2 of the api using https://monitoring-api.rigor.com/v2/checks?type=uptime

    the url: entry is no longer visible which makes it very hard to pull data out for internal statistical analysis.

  3. Custom Reports: Include render time as a reporting option

    Include DOM Load Time inside custom reports: I would like to be able to see the DOM Load Time/Render Time as an option during the creation of a custom_report. The goal here is to see dom load time/render time instead of load/response time.

    This is a great idea Chris and I 100% agree. Right now, custom reports offer only the measurements that all checks offer, so all those great stats with collect in RBC aren’t available. We are fixing that. First step is we are about to introduce a bunch of additional RBC metrics we collect. Then we are revamping Custom Reports so that RBC checks can include more metrics, like DomContentLoaded, etc

  4. Show average, slowest, and fastest time by page in page performance reports.

    In addition, the ability to export page performance report data as a CSV or the option to include page level data in custom reports would allow better use of real browser checks (no need to create one for each step of a funnel to export and share with the team).

    We are right now in the middle of reworking our data storage and aggregation system for RBC and Page Performance Report. When finished (Should be very soon), we will be providing the mean, median, max, and min for all the stats available for all the Page Performance report metrics (including some new ones like Fully Loaded)

  5. Public status page with additional colums

    Besides load time it would be really helpful to see render time and server time. Load time can be misleading because we have a significant number of marketing tags that load in the background, so could be misleading.

    Totally agree Raymond. And as we add additional metrics to RBC, such as SpeedIndex, those make sense as well. Starting to collect use cases for improved Status pages UI.

    Just so you know, we currently do this because the status page can show any type of check, and render time is something that is RBC specific. We only some the metrics that all checks have, even if you have only selected RBC checks. This should be improved. Moving to under review.

  6. Make the test now test location configurable

    Currently the test now button is sending the test to the north carolina test location. Because tests can differ on the location where they are tested from it would be handy if the default test location could be changed to make sure the test result is equal to the one when running from the proper location.

  7. Epoch time variable

    It would be handy to have a {{epoch}} time variable present. Both for email templates and in tests. Being able to assert something >= {{epoch+100}} maybe?

  9. RBC: Allow additional steps for Real Browser Checks to continue in a second new tab

    Some functionality on our pages opens a new tab in the user's browser. We'd like to check these processes with Real Browser Checks. Currently, the check is only able to find elements in a single tab/window allowing us to only check a portion of the process, or use 2 checks for 1 user flow.

    Thanks for sharing this idea Sarah. I can see how this is a need. There might be some issues with how to support this with the underlying Selenium script engine, but we should certainly investigate. Moving to “under review” and going to talk with Engineering

  10. Custom time zone for Email Templates

    It would be nice to have custom time zone at email alert. Now we have just {{alert.time}} (UTC) option here.
    There is an ability to chose Time Zone in account's UI, but still not here.

  11. Notifications: Send multiple alerts using different templates

    I would like to request the ability for an alert to send multiple email templates at different stages in the alert. We use email to integrate with HP OpenView for tracking our alerts from different systems. We would like Rigor's alerts to be able to send a plain delimited email to OpenView for their alert system and then another normal email to my development staff.

    Totally agree Doug. Thanks for sharing this idea. Our notifications system needs to be more flexible about allowing multiple different communications to occur in response to certain events, such as sending 2 different emails, to 2 different groups, using 2 different templates.

    We are collecting use cases for a totally rebuild notifications system. I will include this in our planning.

  12. add a "retry" logic for checks that fail to meet a given success criteria before impacting "Uptime"

    This is so uptime stays at 100% and not penalized by momentary issues stemming from internet disruptions, delay in a load balancer detects and removes a failed server/service from the mix.

    For e.g my uptime is dinged sometimes because the checker failed to finish loading page within time specified in success criteria, the reason for this could be any number of things including ISP issues, the checker should retry the same action a specified number of times (say once or twice more) before marking the action as failed and thereby impacting down time.

    I like this idea. We have the concept of what we call “SLA uptime” which is like uptime, but uptime is only impacted if 2 runs failed in a row, from different locations. Essentially we are trying to take the network between the test location and the target out of the equation. However this is not well exposed in the UI and it not available everywhere. Perhaps that can help address this.

  13. Notifications: Log escalation emails like normal alerts

    Please log escalation emails like you do normal alert emails, so we can tell an escalation triggered and see who it went to.

    This is a good idea Barry. Allows for greater transparency. We are currently collecting use cases for a reworking of our alerting/notifications system, so this is helpful to know about.

  14. Alerting: have the default alert destination for a new test be the person adding the test.

    I would like to suggest when adding a new test, the default alerting destination be the person adding the test by default, the goal is to eliminate the possibility of sending a bogus alert to whatever the default destination is now.

    I like this idea Barry. It makes it faster to set up tests. However we have some users that setup tests for others, and would have to keep changing that if we defaulted to the current user

    Sounds like we should either have a per-user default, or make it super easy to specify the current user when creating the check. Moving this to “under review”

  15. Allow real time monitoring on Custom Report

    Rigor only allows Operations, Executive, and Alert type dashboards to update in real time. Can we do the same for Custom reports? This would be helpful to display on large screens for teams/management to monitor.

  16. Notifications: Send emails on 1 failure *and* then emails + SMS on 2 failures

    Hi Rigor, I noticed that we cannot set up alerts for a test so that if it failed once it immediately emailed the group, but then if it failed twice it would text and email the group. It seems like you can only do one or the other. There are times we want to know about 'noise', but just not by text. however, if that 'noise' continues, then please text. We use the email alerts for review more then logging into Rigor to look and see if any noise occurred. Hopefully others find this useful as well.

    Totally agree. Our notification system needs to be more flexible in allowing multiple different levels of alerting based on the conditions.

    We are currently gathering use cases for a complete revamp of the notification system. This is a great one to include. Thanks for the suggestion Scott!

  17. Ability to Add Detailed Description/KB to Monitor

    Hi, I would like to be able to add a detailed description (knowledge base type article) to any Monitor. This would allow me to add information on the monitor, who to call, what to check, and any other details we can explain about the monitor.

  18. Need specific information on why alert notification fired

    It isn't clear from an alert notification why it fired. In the case an alert fires due to location specific failure, a notification needs to state this and have the location information as well

    Building in more root-cause analysis, or just being clearer about what happened in a failed check is important.

    We do this to different levels of degree in the new API check vs say uptime. Reaching out for some specific examples

  19. Domain Performance: Include number of requests in view

    In the domain performance view (^/reports/domain_performance/[0-9]+), the hover on a check gives you the number of seconds for each domain, but it would be very helpful to be able to see the number of requests associated with each domain as well.

  20. Add Schedule Time or Temporary Time to Mute Alerts by Control Group

    Hi,

    Muting alerts by Control Groups is great, but I would like to be able to temporarily mute them (for X min or X hours). Another feature would be to add schedule mute. This would come in handy for scheduled downtime or when we have known system problems and don't want to forget to unmute the Control Group.

    This is a great idea. Muted checks and forgetting about them can lead to a ton of problems and creates a blindspot for the organization, so I like the idea of a timed mute that auto reverts.
