Rigor Product Suggestions

  1. Adding a checkbox "Do not start next test until current test completes"

Our backend is stateful and things get messed up if a test starts before the next test is finished. This is not ordinarily a problem but can cause issues when there are aws outages.

  2. autocreate the API check steps description

when creating API steps auto filling the descriptions with items selected would help increase agility on-boarding new checks

  3. Reduce SUCCESS text messages to match FAILURE text messaging settings.

We have NON location based alerting setup via SMS / TEXT message for any of our Uptime monitoring configurations.

We correctly get Failure AND Success messages for each respect service status; however, since we have non-location based we expect 1 SMS for failure and 1 SMS for success.

It seems that FAILURE SMS abides by the checkbox - Alert on Location specific failures - but SUCCESS does not. If I uncheck the box altogether (as we currently have it) - I still get 1 SMS for Failure but I get 3 (for 3 locations) Success texts.

    Can we make them…

  4. RBC: Allow custom performance measurements based on element/request

Allow custom performance measurements based on element/request. This would allow measuring page load up until different points. This could be useful to see certain performance across all runs.

Our solution to this will be to support the W3C custom user timings. So you can drop pins and take measurements of basically anything. We also need to do this to support Single Page Apps. We are currently in the planning phase.

  6. Benchmark Check: Collect Additional metrics

Add the following additional metrics to the Benchmark tool: DOM Complete (Visual Complete) Load Time, # of 3rd party javascript calls, # of 3rd party domain resource requests.

Hey Ryan, thanks for the suggestion.
We have are currently planning to switch the Benchmark check over to using our RBC platform under the covers to perform the tests. This makes many more metrics available to Benchmark check, include DomContentLoad, Fully Loaded, as well as future things we add to RBC, such as SpeedIndex.

We email you to better understand what you mean by 3PC Javascript “calls” (the requests to 3rd party urls? The number of function calls 3PC JS makes, etc)

  7. Domain Performance: Include number of requests in view

In the domain performance view (^/reports/domain_performance/[0-9]+), the hover on a check gives you the number of seconds for each domain, but it would be very helpful to be able to see the number of requests associated with each domain as well.

  8. Add support for AdBlock and AdBlock Plus

The user will be allowed to select via checkbox to turn on / off Adblock or Adblock-plus. As anti-ad block solutions are put into place, monitoring and testing them have been manual processes.

  9. API: Add API method to pause or mute individual checks by ID

Right now we have the ability to bulk pause or mute checks in control groups, but sometimes you might want to pause or mute just one individual check.

We should allow a method for a command that can pause or mute a specific check via the API without creating a new control group.

100% agree. Control groups should be a short cut way to mute multiple checks, not the only option for muting checks. Thanks for the suggestion Melanie. Moving to “under review”

  10. Adding the ability to have a one time maintenance window so no alerts get triggered if we have a plannd outage

if I have a planned outage overnight I would like to setup a one time or a recurring maint window which it would be acceptable for a test to fail and NOT notify the members during that time window.

  11. API: Expose HAR data for a run via the API

It's great that we can export this, but let's make it available via the API as well.

Exposing the HAR via an API is how the Rigor Monitoring → Rigor Optimization integration works. We can work to make this public for our users

  12. Allow Domain Performance in Monitoring API

Domain Performance is a nice tool. But we need that information though rigor API
    1. With the ability to get the information thought rigor monitoring API we can scale the usage of that data in so many levels.

    2. Automate certain things like adding DNS prefetch links in our site to reduce DNS lookup time.

    3. Get 10 Slowest domains from Rigor API to create a custom dashboard to analyze, report and take action on them, and many more.
